Safety of our athletes, coaches, staff and families is of the utmost importance at Choice Gymnastics. Below are some tips to make your time in the gym as successful as possible.
WHAT TO WEAR
Girls may wear a leotard, unitard, or a tucked in T-shirt and athletic shorts for practice. Boys may wear a T-shirt and shorts. Please do not have your gymnast wear any midriff bearing outfit or baggy clothing. Hair should be pulled neatly and securely away from the face so that it stays up for the entire workout. We recommend not wearing bows or other large hair ornaments that may cause discomfort during activity. All students will go barefoot during class. Shoes, socks and other personal items may be left in the student cubbies or with parents. Jewelry (except for stud earrings) should not be worn during classes. We recommend leaving jewelry articles or anything of value at home. Be sure your student’s personal items are marked with their name. This facility will not be responsible for any items that may be lost or stolen. If you have misplaced an item, please stop by the front office for assistance.
ARRIVAL AND PICKUP
Please try to arrive 5 minutes before your athlete’s scheduled class time. Arriving earlier may cause congestion between classes. If you choose not to stay and observe your child’s class, we ask that you escort your child into the building at drop-off and from the building to your car at pickup. For safety reasons, children will not be allowed to wait outside of the building for pickup. During peak times the parking lot is crowded. Please take into consideration that our students may include young children. We ask that you drive slowly and carefully. Please pull into a parking spot if you are stopping in the parking lot. Do not take a chance on your student running to and from your car. Please pick up your student on time or inform us if you know you will be late picking up.
Please have athlete ready (shoes off, water bottle in hand) at the class’s designated start time. We begin promptly to ensure completion of the lesson plan for that day. To prevent injuries, each class starts with a full body warm-up and stretch. Providing the body ample time before jumping into activities is crucial and is cut short when running into practice late. This time is also critical for coaches and athletes to mentally ease into practice together.
We encourage families and guests to stay and observe their athlete’s class from our parents’ room. Only Choice Gymnastics coaches, staff and students are permitted inside the gym at any time. There are times you may need to pick up your child early. Please stop by the front office for assistance. While you may take photos and videos of your child, we ask that you refrain from any flash photography for the safety of the athletes.
During observation, we ask that you refrain from distracting or grabbing your child’s attention while they are practicing. The athlete’s cooperation with their coach, concentration, and ability to follow instructions during class promotes skill development. Younger athletes will likely look to their parents while in the gym. It is supportive to offer them a small wave or thumbs up then signal them to return their focus.
Please supervise children at all times while in the parents’ room. For everyone’s safety, do not allow athletes, siblings or others to practice their gymnastics or ninja skills, climb on furniture or cubbies, stand on chairs, or engage in horseplay of any kind. Help us maintain a clean atmosphere by wiping up any spills that may occur.
While any form of physical activity can cause injury, gymnastics offers a higher risk. We evaluate every injury that happens during class time and update families after practice. Please report any injures your athlete may have incurred or concerns you have to a staff member immediately.
There is absolutely no smoking, of any kind, permitted inside our premises. This includes, but is not limited to, cigarettes, cigars and vaping.
FOOD & DRINK
Absolutely no food or gum is permitted inside the gym. Water is encouraged for athletes to bring to every practice. Please make sure water bottles have a tight-fitted, closing lid.
We want sports to be fun and safe for everyone involved! Behavioral issues will be address appropriately with parents. Continuance of such behavior may result in child being dismissed from class. Coaches and staff will respect athletes, parents and each other and is expected in return.
HEALTH & CLEANLINESS
To try and keep germs to a minimum, we encourage students to wash their hands before and after class and parents to use hand sanitizer placed in the waiting room and front desk area. Our coaches are required to wash their hands between each class. We also clean and sanitize our equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines.
